The briefMid-season read: Gartner handed the movement its best number, and the November fortnight is loaded
The prediction week delivered more than predicted. Gartner closed its London symposium saying 75 percent of organizations that cut middle management because of AI will rehire at least half of those roles by 2028, which is the establishment pricing in exactly what this radar has documented all autumn: flattening by layoff without redesign gets reversed, expensively. The same week, Forbes convened CEOs around the "human economy" and the floor talk was AI slop, a 2 percent values match for Gen Z hires, and entry-level expectations being elevated, not lowered.
The next two weeks run through Paris, Las Vegas and New York. UNLEASH puts the chairman of Renault and the CEOs of L'Oréal and Ryanair on an HR stage with operating models as a named pillar; HR Tech hands fourteen agentic-AI awards and fifty product launches to a market that has not redesigned a single decision right; and Charter debuts the AI Pulse, the independent dataset on AI at work, in the same room as "The Future of the Middle Manager". Walk in with a position: the gains are real, and so is the coordination bill.
Then the November fortnight: the Drucker Forum (Hamel at dinner, Edmondson giving the Handy Lecture, Bayer CEO Bill Anderson on program) into the Corporate Rebels Summit, where Anderson appears again two weeks later alongside Ricardo Semler giving "The End of the Boss", and the ten-year-anniversary book, Born to Work Together, gets unveiled. The highest-value rooms of the season sit eleven days apart, and Bayer is the thread running through both.
